Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Choral Activities)

Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time

General Summary of Responsibilities: The Department of Music in the College of the Arts seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, conducting choral ensembles, teaching conducting and choral literature, and recruiting for the choral and voice areas. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to prepare major choral works with the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. Faculty members are expected to make substantive contributions to the Department including mentoring, departmental and university service, and community service. The Department of Music is made up of 27 full-time faculty and six part-time instructors. It offers a comprehensive music program whose faculty and students present over 150 performances a year. Required Qualifications: DMA in Choral Conducting or PhD in Music Education. Experience conducting collegiate choirs. Demonstrated activity in the field of choral conducting on regional and national levels. A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship.
