Position Summary: The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time Research Assistant Professor. This is a fixed term academic faculty appointment commensurate with qualifications. The successful applicant will have a primary focus in adult cardiac surgery research and will serve as the Director for the cardiothoracic surgery research laboratory for John Ikonomidis, MD, Ph.D. Research will focus on murine model of thoracic aortic aneurysms as well as studies surveying clinical aneurysm specimens. This position will function with expertise in original scholarship, research design, research engineering, implementation of research procedures, data analysis, and interpretation of results. The position offers the opportunity to participate in a growing multidisciplinary cardiac surgery research program. Excellent written and oral communication skills are important. Prior experience or the ability to train and assist others in a team-science research group is required. Candidates must have excellent problem solving skills. Candidates must have a PhD in Molecular Cellular Biology and Pathobiology or related field.
