GRANTS MANAGER A/B

Job description

Duties: With limited supervision, manage department's sponsored research pre-award and post award activities for a large, diverse, and highly complex portfolio of grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, gifts, endowments, and sponsored research agreements. Assist with preparation of new and non-competing sponsored project budgets; prepare and submit entire proposals through Penn systems. Monitor expenditures for compliance; perform general ledger reconciliations; produce routine and ad-hoc financial/grant status reports and quarterly forecasts.

Develops, negotiates, routes, and maintains subcontracts with multiple institutions funded and foreign subcontractors (approximately 20 subcontracts). Prepare subcontract POs and manage tracking system to ensure receipt, payment, and closing of POs. This position requires frequent interaction with the School of Medicine's Office of Research Support Services and the University's Office of Research Services, as well as outside sponsoring agencies. Maintain working knowledge of finance, research, and compliance policies.

Manage Payroll & HR activities; provide mentorship & training for Financial Coordinators

Grants Manager B: In addition to the above, the Grants Manager B will work more independently and actively participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. The Grants Manager B will work on the more complicated grants including Industry Sponsored Research Agreements with multiple subprojects and sub-contracts. Moreover, it is expected that the Grants Manager B candidate will have a greater grants management experience than the Grants Manager A candidate, such that s/he can make greater contributions, including engaging in financial analysis.

This position reports to the Director, Administration and Finance and has a dotted reported line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.

Qualifications: Grants Manager A: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Grants Manager B: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
