About Greenfield Community College:

Greenfield Community College is located in the beautiful and historic Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts, between the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and the fertile farmland of the Connecticut River watershed. GCC is a public community college serving over 4,800 people annually in credit courses and credit-free workshops. Job Description:


Reporting to the Executive Director of Resource Development, the Development Officer supports the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors and prospects through the successful execution of the college's core fundraising initiatives: the annual fund, scholarship program, annual and special events. Constituents include members of the college Foundation and Board of Trustees, faculty/staff and retirees, alumni, community members, and corporate and foundation sources.

This is a pivotal development position on the Resource Development team, working collaboratively with development office staff and to grow our donor base and the GCC Foundation's endowment. Gifts can focus on a range of fundraising priorities, from scholarships to facility development to areas of greatest need.


  • Coordinates Annual Fund solicitations, including content development, production schedule, solicitations, donor/prospect follow-up and closing gifts.
  • Executes scholarship program fundraising, including solicitations for new and renewal gifts, donor agreements, scholarship program promotion, etc., and annual scholarship event.
  • Supports the execution of an annual meeting event and donor cultivation/stewardship events, including sponsorship solicitations and tracking, ticket sales and tracking and donor/prospect outreach and follow-up, collaboration with marketing and communication on collateral and PR, logistics with external vendors, and on-site logistics lead at events.
  • Assists with Corporate and Foundation funding requests and reporting, as assigned.
  • Prepares donor briefings, talking points, proposals and correspondence for college leadership and volunteers.
  • Provides customized acknowledgements, research such as donor prospecting and reporting as needed.
  • Assist with prospect research, data entry and reporting; analyze prospect data. Work with the Executive Director of Resource Development to plan and execute prospect moves and advise on prospects' status.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's degree required, minimum of 3-5 years' progressively responsible professional experience in fundraising in higher education or nonprofit setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage donor/prospect information;
  • Experience managing special events and projects;
  • Demonstrated experience with creating appeals/direct mail solicitations, donor agreements, and proposals and corporate and foundation reporting;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience using a fundraising database (i.e. Salesforce, etc.); and
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs.


  • Experience using Raiser's Edge fundraising database;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity issues and/or global multiculturalism.

This is an eighteen (18) hour-per-week non-benefited, non-unit position. Expected work schedule will be three days per week for six hours.

SALARY: $32.05 per hour/18 hours per week - (Three days per week for 6 hours per day)

START DATE: November 2018
