Consultant II (Limited Term) CODA Building

Job description

We are looking for a dynamic, highly effective Community Services Leader to lead the project team supporting community services in Coda for the next two years.  As part of the team, this role will provide leadership for creating community connection, collaboration, and co-creation through the following activities:

  • Lead the team to meet building related-, day to day needs of Georgia Tech occupants of CODA space; this includes but is not limited to ensuring adequate and appropriate space utilization, servicing as a facilitator for relations of occupants into CODA, identifying refresh/renovation needs, overseeing installations, shipments to Georgia Tech’s occupants
  • Remain abreast of programmatic needs for GR occupants of CODA, interpreting them into facility-specific activities as appropriate
  • Provide input on CODA space governance (and potentially facilitate the process), linking to broader campus space governance efforts
  • Coordinate closely with CODA Real Estate Manager and CODA Support Services team to facilitate a productive, exciting, energetic, and positive experience for Georgia Tech occupants of CODA and their visitors
  • Manage team that provides some services to GT occupants (events/communications, community readiness)
  • Resolve or escalate resolution of any disputes that may occur between occupant groups related to the shared community environment
  • Work with the Real Estate Manager to monitor, track, and report space utilization
  • Help occupants adapt and adjust to new working circumstances
  • Provide support, assistance, and guidance in the move management process (liaison between the move vendor and the future occupants).

 Coda is a first-of-a-kind showcase facility designed to foster organic collaboration between Georgia Tech and other entities on the forefront of technology and research. This mixed use facility boasts 21-stories and 650,000 square feet. Georgia Tech is slated to occupy nearly half of the office building while private companies will occupy the remainder.  Coda is an expansion of Technology Square and will transform how the Georgia Tech community conducts research. Georgia Tech groups have the opportunity to work alongside industry partners in Coda’s vast 40,000 square feet of retail space.  Coda is community where members connect, collaborate and co-create.

Job Purpose: This “limited term” position is part of the Georgia Tech CODA initiative and such roles are based on needs and requirements. All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon available funding and business needs.  Lead and manage organizational improvement projects across the Institute community. Scope, plan, implement, and measure the value of projects across academic, research, administrative, affiliated, and economic development units of the Institute.  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate, design, and lead interactive group discussions and planning sessions.
  • Create materials and tools to support the campus community in leading and managing organizational improvement.
  • Manage key elements of projects including calculations of estimated hours, resource requirements, progress updates, and critical path items.
  • Design and analyze results from quantitative and qualitative organizational assessments.
  • Conduct presentations to share results from organizational assessments and improvement recommendations.
  • Facilitate and document client scoping meetings.
  • Identify and raise concerns about project risks and issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Organizational Development or related field.
  • Work Experience: Two to three years of related experience.
  • Certifications: N/A
  • Skills: This job requires the demonstrated ability to effectively conduct organizational analysis, communicate assessment results, and work autonomously with a high degree of accuracy and quality. This job also requires the demonstrated ability to think critically and employ sound judgment in resolving organizational challenges; effectively manage projects; facilitate group interactions; work effectively within a matrix organizational structure; and anticipate and manage client expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Master's Degree in in Business Management, Organizational Development or related field.
  • Preferred Work Experience: Three to four years of related experience. Lead the team to meet building related-, day to day needs of Georgia Tech occupants of CODA space; this includes but is not limited to ensuring adequate and appropriate space utilization, servicing as a facilitator for relations of occupants into CODA, identifying refresh/renovation needs, overseeing installations, shipments to Georgia Tech’s occupants.   • Preferred Skills: Experience creating and nurturing collaboration across organizational lines.  Experience leading programs, projects, or teams. Skilled in designing and improving operating processes. Skills in effectively managing multiple priorities and conflicts in a complex organizational environment. Must be comfortable working in an open workspace environment. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and meet deadlines.
