Associate Professor (Family Nurse Practitioner) - Tenure-Track, School of Nursing
POSITION TITLE & DESCRIPTION: The School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. The person appointed to this position will teach in the Masters of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration. Additional duties will include: overseeing the FNP practicum courses, managing the practicum tracking system, assisting with student and part-time faculty orientation and accreditation preparation activities. Other responsibilities include assisting with the student admission process, recruitment of preceptors, and attendance of faculty/graduate/research/curriculum meetings. Effective teaching, research, creative activity, and service to the University are required for retention, promotion, and tenure. This is an academic year appointment. However, opportunities exist for an additional Summer Session appointment. Travel to conferences is supported by the School of Nursing and College of Science scholarship/travel funds. Graduate Student Assistantships and mini grants are available through the Center for Excellence in Graduate Education (CEGE) Center.
A Master's of Science in Nursing is required.
A potential candidate's consideration will be enhanced by providing evidence of: A current and unobstructed California RN License and a California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License, a current national Nurse Practitioner Certification, and the American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Provider Certification. A minimum of two years of instructional and simulation experience. A minimum of two years of full-time practice as a nurse practitioner. Knowledge and skills related to teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development, evaluations, or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills not later than the first year of teaching.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT and THE COLLEGE:
The School of Nursing received 10 years of accreditation by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) in October of 2017. The SON is located in the newly remodeled Science 1 building on the 2nd floor. There are designated class rooms and faculty offices. Simulation is supported by six classrooms that include: a Health Assessment lab, Low Fidelity Simulation Learning lab, Mid-Fidelity Simulation Learning lab, High-Fidelity Simulation Learning lab, Community Health Apartment, and Simulation Debriefing room. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE
