College of Education invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Special Education. This position is contingent upon final budget approval for fiscal year 2020. It is located at the main campus and satellite offices, with the possibility of teaching at the regional higher education centers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Terminal degree (PhD or EdD in Special Education, Teacher Education or a closely related field). Minimum of three years of successful teaching and supervisory experiences in P-12 settings. Teaching and/or supervising experience at the college/university level. Excellent communication, human relations, and organization skills. Demonstrated literacy in educational technology. Evidence of scholarly potential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work with Professional Development Schools. Experience in grant writing; technology/UDL; Special Education edTPA; remedial literacy instruction; or infant/primary special education.


Teaching and supervision in the undergraduate programs in special education, as well as in the Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) programs at the graduate level. This position may include outreach to the community colleges and local school systems in the area; work within Professional Development Schools supervising interns; recruitment of students and student advising; and/or teaching both undergraduate and graduate classes. Additional responsibilities include engaging in external and internal service activities and scholarly activities.
