Responsibilities

The Principal Faculty member has the primary responsibility of teaching, student evaluation, advising and mentoring. Will serve as course director and teach courses in the School of Physician Assistant Practice.

Guide scholarly pursuits of students and provide academic and career advice to students. Participate in student selection and admissions process as well as participate in student orientation, recruitment events and student evaluations. Serves as advisor to a small cohort of students. Remediate students in didactic and clinical areas when appropriate. Also serves on program-specific committees.

Participate in scholarly activities resulting in publication and/or presentation at regional and national meetings. Attend appropriate state and national professional meetings. Serve as guest lecturer in School of Physician Assistant Practice and Institutional courses as invited. Serve as small group facilitator in program courses. Participate in scheduled College of Medicine (COM) and School meetings.

Participate in the development of grant applications, accreditation reports and other documents required of the program. Assist in the development of courses with appropriate learning outcomes, student learning objectives and methods of assessment. Maintain clinical competency/practice and knowledge of current best practices within the profession.

Participate in the development, monitoring, refining and assessment of plans to achieve the vision of the program, consistent with the broader missions and strategic directions of the COM. Participate in School of Physician Assistant Practice accreditation activities. Assist with the implementation of quality assurance practices to ensure continual curriculum and program assessment and evaluation as stipulated by ARC-PA. Additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Qualifications

Highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization (PA-C) from an accredited institution; or a Doctoral degree (MD, DO). Demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

Proof of current NCCPA or physician board certification.
Clinical experience.
Knowledgeable in current practice standards and the roles of physician assistants.
Current valid Florida Physician Assistant or Physician license, or eligibility for Florida licensure.
Current Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain.

Preferred

Prior physician assistant education experience.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
