Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Under general supervision of the principal investigator, the post-doctoral fellow will (1) conduct mathematical analyses; (2) conduct computer simulations; (3) prepare and conduct experiments; (4) prepare journal and conference papers and presentations and reports; all for multi-band, multi-mode aeronautical communications applications, at the physical and data link layers. The post-doctoral fellow will also (5) advise graduate students and collaborate with other project team members, and (6) assist with project management.
Required Education and ExperiencePh.D. in electrical or computer engineering, with specialization and expertise in some area at the physical layer of wireless communications and strong knowledge of the lowest two layers of the communications protocol stack.
Preferred QualificationsSome knowledge of networking, understanding of unique features of aeronautical communications, familiarity with basics of air traffic management, and facility/experience with software defined radios.
Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesThe candidate must have a sound knowledge of wireless communications principles at the physical and data link layers, including modulation/detection, multicarrier signaling, diversity, channel/propagation characterization, antennas and multi-antenna systems, framing/packetizing, synchronization, multiplexing and multiple access techniques. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.
