Position Description: The University of Northern Iowa's School of Applied Human Sciences seeks applications for an Assistant Professor in Family Services. This is a full-time, tenure-track, nine-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 19th, 2019. UNI's Family Services program is recognized by the National Council on Family Relations as a Certified Family Life Educator program. Family Services is a multidisciplinary program, emphasizing different perspectives of family life, human development, and policy, and is housed in the School of Applied Human Sciences. The responsibilities of this position include: teaching undergraduate students (e.g., classroom instruction, internships, student research, service-learning projects; advising undergraduate students (e.g, student schedules, student organizations); developing a research program and disseminating results through scholarly publications and presentations at professional conferences; and serving on School of Applied Human Sciences and campus committees, and engaging with community or professional associations.

Education Requirements: Ph.D in Family Studies or a closely related field required, or convincing evidence of completion by August 19th, 2019.
Required Qualification: Required qualifications include demonstrated experience in teaching a broad spectrum of courses in family studies; effective oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop a research program; and disseminate results through scholarly publications and presentations at professional conferences.
Desirable Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in college teaching with varied course delivery modalities (e.g., hybrid, online, face to face); experience and interest in teaching courses with an applied focus; experience in building and maintaining relationships with community-based non-profit agencies or other systems impacting families; demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of family studies in community settings; and experience with diverse populations through teaching, scholarship, and/or community engagement.
