Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
The University of Virginia Health System Physical Plant has an exciting opportunity for a Zone Manager who supervises and coordinates the work of multi-trade teams to assure timely completion of day-to-day maintenance and repairs for assigned Health System Maintenance Zone. The incumbent supervises and oversees the installation, operation, and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, heating, mechanical, and electrical equipment and infrastructure on a 24-hour/7 day a week basis.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of seven years of experience in a hospital or critical patient care environment with one or more building trades disciplines or maintenance operations and five years supervising or leading teams is required. A valid Journeyman License in a building trade (HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing) and a valid driver's license, with a positive points balance are also required. Knowledge of building, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trades and a demonstrated ability to communicate, plan, assign and supervise work of a varied group of skilled and semi-skilled workers is essential. Knowledge and understanding of infection control procedures and applicable codes and regulations is required. Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people of diverse backgrounds is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, as well as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as AiM is necessary. Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and utilizing Metasys/ALC for troubleshooting is highly preferred.
