Position Information
The Director of Library Organizational Design and Human Resources is responsible for supporting Library strategic objectives by partnering with the University Librarian, the Academic Personnel Office, and the central HR division to deliver a broad range of human resources services. It is characterized by a high degree of collaboration and coordination. The incumbent is responsible for recommending, developing, implementing, administering and/or evaluating the organizational design and human resources programs and services of the University Library. Participating as a member of the department's leadership team, the Director, Library OD and HR oversees staff HR and serves as the principal consultant on all staff personnel matters. The Director, Library OD and HR works closely with leaders within the department to develop and implement comprehensive people strategies that enable the organization to attract, develop, engage, and retain top talent. The Director, Library OD and HR is client-centric and thoroughly understands both the client's strategic objectives and day-to-day operations, and builds trusting relationships with its leaders and staff. The Director, Library OD and HR builds strong partnerships, collaborates, and coordinates with Central HR to ensure delivery of high quality, value-added services that align with organization's goals. The position serves as consultant to leadership on strategic decision-making, including organizational effectiveness, talent and performance management, leadership development and change management. The Director, Library OD and HR is accountable for all associated HR laws, policy, and regulatory compliance within scope of the position. The Director, Library OD and HR may also manage the coordination of a variety of campus initiatives. This position has a dual reporting relationship to the University Librarian and to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources.

Minimum Requirements
Has advanced knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures including employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources as well as organizational initiatives relating to and/or impacting human resources.
Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. Demonstrated strong initiative and follow-through, self-motivated and results-oriented.
Ability to manage through influence and collaborate effectively.
Ability to organize work, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Maintains an understanding of the unit goals and how this position supports those goals.
Ability to foster a respectful, cooperative, professional and courteous environment, maintain confidentiality, and employ tact and diplomacy.
Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
Possesses strong conflict resolution skills.
Skill in analyzing policy, procedures, and other directives leading to the formation of actionable recommendations. Skill in reading, interpreting and explaining complex and/or detailed documents such as proposals, contracts, policies and procedures.
Effective project management and organizational skills to develop goals and action plans, assess priorities and resource needs. Ability to set and meet aggressive commitments to achieve objectives while demonstrating flexibility to handle immediate needs. Demonstrated skill in evaluating project needs, determining approaches, evaluating impact of alternatives and making viable recommendations consistent with sound human resources principles.
Ability to provide effective leadership and supervision to supervised staff and foster a motivating and engaged environment. Ability to proactively manage employee performance, establish goals for supervised staff and work continuously to promote achievement of the established goals. Ability to effectively delegate and hold supervised staff accountable for successful completion of assignments.
Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively.
Ability to accurately apply a wide variety of policies and procedures.
Ability to apply advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Has working knowledge of the university's HR information systems.
