Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Data Science programs at UNT are designed to meet the increasing demands for Data Science and Data Analytics professionals. The department currently offers a Master of Science degree in Data Science and a concentration in Data Science in the Information Science PhD program.
Candidates should have a solid background and expertise in Data Science, anchored in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines, including big data, data analytics, learning analytics, data/information visualization, data mining, machine learning, data modeling, informetrics, natural language processing, and information retrieval. All candidates should have a demonstrated willingness to engage in high quality research and have an aptitude for undergraduate-, graduate- and doctoral-level teaching. The position requires a commitment to teaching, scholarly research resulting in high-quality publications and presentations, sustained service to the department and college, and academic advisement.

This position requires a Ph. D. degree in Data Science, Information Science, Computer Science or a closely related field and preferably significant industry experience or previous work in Data Science related areas. Teaching and research experience is required for full/associate professor candidates.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of funded scholarly research and publication.
