The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) in the Curry School of Education seeks multiple Research Coordinators (Wage) to assist with the Supporting Teachers to Enhance their Practice (STEP) field trial in Stafford County, VA. Incumbents conduct observations within pre-kindergarten classrooms, collect data using project guidelines, and upload collected data.
***These are at-will, hourly wage positions that do not carry benefits.***
An associate's degree or equivalent coursework at a higher education institution is required, a bachelor's degree is preferred. At least one year of experience performing direct work with children in either an educational setting or an out- of-school setting such as a summer camp or an after school program is preferred. Early Childhood or Social Science research experience is strongly preferred. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population are essential. Reliable transportation for traveling between schools (mileage reimbursed) is required. Ability to use and troubleshoot with technology, including laptops and tablets, is required, as is knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word). Certification in Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) Observers by Teachstone Training, LLC is preferred. Applicants must be able to attend training in Stafford County, VA.
Data collection will occur for approximately 8 weeks in the fall of 2017 (September through October). Hourly rate is commensurate with experience. There is potential for additional work outside of the 8-week window, and priority will be given to applicants who are available for additional data collection efforts.
