Minimum Education/Experience: Successful applicants for the position in Water Policy and Governance will have a PhD in Geography, or a related field such as Planning, Community Studies, or Public Policy. Successful applicants for the position in Water Engineering will have a PhD in Water Resources Engineering or a related field such as Environmental or Civil Engineering. Qualifying degrees for either position must be from appropriately accredited institutions. All candidates must demonstrate an interest in interdisciplinary research and education.

Job Duties: ECU invites applicants for two positions at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level within a growing cross-campus water resources cluster being led jointly by the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering and Technology. The cluster spans disciplines in the social and natural sciences as well as engineering. The new hires will be integral members of ECU's emerging Water Resources Center, which is focused on providing resources and facilities to enhance transdisciplinary water research at the University. Faculty in the cluster are expected to be highly research active, will serve as catalysts for new research projects, have the ability to participate in collaborative multi-partner research programs, and will therefore have a reduced teaching commitment. Applicants who can provide depth in their area of expertise while bridging across disciplines to create research synergies are highly desired. One of the new tenure-track positions being sought to grow the cluster this year will be in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment and will have a research emphasis in water policy and governance. The second tenure-track position will be in the Department of Engineering and will have a focus on water engineering. In both cases, exceptional candidates from all relevant research areas will be considered.
