Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

Primary Purpose of the Position:

This position will be responsible for digital education including developing instructional workbooks and videos for flipped-learning based classrooms, specifically for General Chemistry, Pre-Calculus, Principles of Biological Sciences, Physics and Entry-level Computer Science classes. The position is time-limited until grant funding is exhausted in June 2021.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with STEM-course faculty to develop short instructional videos (with Adobe Captivate© or TechSmith Camtasia© preferred) and workbooks. Coordinate and oversee all aspects of video pre-production, production and post-production for SCALE-UP Courses. Responsible for audio production and sound quality. Assists as needed with planning, structuring, creating, designing and launching of corresponding interactive study links, workbooks and worksheets for SCALE-UP Courses. Proactive in providing digital resources for academics and useful in flipped pedagogy. Assists in planning and implementation of graphic designs for video, web and print academic resources. Will provide technical support to STEM faculty as needed. Manage and inventory videos, workbooks and other digitally designed resources. Performs custom and specialized videography using a variety of equipment techniques. Reports to the S4 Program Manager. Collaborates with the S4 Program Team on special assignments. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Must have a baccalaureate degree in Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science or closely related physical sciences field. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Powerpoint, Excel, Word), Adobe graphics software (Adobe Illustrator, Captivate), and Techsmith Camtasia. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
Must have experience in digital communication, online course management, familiarity with assessment data collection, or expertise in developing short instructional videos (with Adobe Captivate© or TechSmith Camtasia© preferred) and workbooks, in collaboration with a faculty member or similar role. Must have knowledge of videography, audio principles and techniques as well as video compression. Must be highly-motivated with a background in digital communication, marketing, instructional design, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and/or physical science education, social science, online education, or with experience in student-centered active learning (SCALE-UP) and flipped education methodologies. Skills in creativity, imagination and originality in visual composition is a plus. Ability to create and follow a production schedule, effectively manage workload and meet deadlines is required. Knowledge and experience adhering to branding and style guide is a must. Expertise in instruction technology is a plus. Ability to work well with others is required. Moderate physical activity. May require handing of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than 4 hours per day.
