This is an unprecedented moment to become part of the UVA Health System team. As the University's largest fundraising unit, the UVA Health Foundation will play a leading role in the upcoming campaign. We are strategically growing our team and setting ambitious goals, while strengthening our internal resources and staffing up to support these new endeavors.
We are organized into teams of front-line fundraisers and staff who focus on medical alumni, nursing alumni, Cancer Programs, UVA Children's Hospital, and Healthcare Philanthropy (grateful patient giving). We also have dedicated Communications and Advancement Services teams to help support our fundraising efforts. In addition, we partner closely with the Office of University Advancement, which provides significant central services for the broader University development community.
The Associate Director of Development is a critical role in Health System Development. This individual is responsible for developing and executing a campaign plan for the grateful patient program in the Heart and Vascular Center, a fast-growing area of philanthropy. While this individual's main responsibility is as a major gifts officer; he or she is also responsible for establishing additional physician partnerships and managing the advisory board of volunteers to advance the mission of Heart and Vascular programs.
In addition, this individual serves as the lead fundraiser for surgical specialties at the UVA Health System.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects and donors. In addition, the preferred candidate will have the ability to accomplish stated objectives, to create and implement a strategic plan for seeking and closing current, endowment, and future support gifts from alumni, grateful patients, and friends of the UVA Health System. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships of trust and respect with faculty, volunteers and donors. The ability to travel is required, as well as occasional evening and weekend work.
