College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor in Chinese History, in the Department of History beginning August 2019.
ABDs may apply, but a PhD in History is required when the position commences in August 2019. The field of expertise is open, but candidates specializing in pre-20th century Chinese history of Gender and Sexuality or in relations with South East Asia are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates shall demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarly potential and possess a strong commitment to active participation in service to the department, college, and university. Ability to work with and be sensitive to the education needs of a diverse student body is desired.
Faculty are assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year. Beginning the second year the workload reverts to the standard instructional workload of seven (7) course units per academic year. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the Asian Studies program, the International Studies program and to teach outside of the History Department in Towson’s Freshman Seminar Program, the Honors College and the Graduate Program.
