2. An established research agenda and record of research publications in music education with a national/international reach if Associate Professor; a promising research agenda and emerging record of research publications in music education if Assistant Professor.
3. Demonstrated success in teaching general (preferred) and/or choral music.

Position Summary:

Summary: The Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in music education at the rank of Associate Professor/Assistant Professor of Music Education beginning in August 2019. Applicants with expertise in general music (preferred) and choral music, music technology, culturally relevant pedagogy, and a commitment to critical pedagogies are especially sought for this position. The faculty seek a highly motivated, engaged, and creative individual with a well-articulated agenda for scholarly productivity, teaching expertise, and potential for leadership in the field. This individual will join colleagues at the Mead Witter School of Music who value collaboration, innovation, equity, diversity, and inclusion in their shared work of preparing music teachers and music teacher educators.

The candidate's principal responsibilities will be to:

- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music education in the candidate's areas of expertise contingent upon the School of Music's needs (e.g., Introduction to Music Education; courses within the Music Learning and Teaching professional sequence; Popular Music; Composition, Arranging, and Orchestration for the Music Educator; Vocal Styles for the Music Educator; and/or research courses, and/or graduate seminars on contemporary music education and pedagogy topics). Candidates are sought who demonstrate the desire to explore and forge transdisciplinary connections with departments and programs across the University, such as hip-hop studies and contemporary popular musics.

- Pursue a well-articulated agenda of scholarly productivity. The candidate will demonstrate either an emerging (assistant professor) or established (associate professor) record of scholarship in music education with the potential for developing an ongoing program of innovative research with national and international reach.

- Contribute to the School's educational, research, and outreach missions; participate in graduate degree committees, advising, and recruiting activities; collaborate in the ongoing work of the Music Education Area and the Mead Witter School of Music, College of Letters and Science; and to carry out leadership and service within the School, College, and University.

The Mead Witter School of Music, located within the College of Letters & Science, serves over 300 majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels offering the B.A., B.S., B.M., M.A., M.M., D.M.A., and Ph.D. degrees and serves hundreds of non-majors through multiple ensembles and course offerings. Along with the UW-Madison at large, the School of Music is committed to creating a diverse, collegial, and inclusive educational, scholarly, and performance community of faculty, staff, and students and to embody through its teaching and research the aims of the Wisconsin Idea. April 2019, the Hamel Music Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed as a gateway for arts on campus, will open its doors to the campus and general public.
