Degree and area of specialization:

Master's Degree required in student affairs, college student development, counseling, or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

3 years' experience working in higher education or related field required. Preference given to applicants who have directly worked with pre-college programs serving traditionally marginalized student groups.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with underrepresented students in a collegiate environment.
- Experience working with pre-college students and associated policies and procedures.
- Experience managing complex programs or services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort and skill presenting to large audiences.
- Knowledge of diversity issues as they pertain to recruitment and retention of students historically underrepresented in higher education.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data.
- Ability to interpret and implement complex policy and rules.
- Supervisory experience

Position Summary:

The Director of Pre-College Programs provides leadership for Wisconsin School of Business Pre-College programs. Pre-College programs currently consist of the Business Emerging Leaders (BEL) program. The Business Emerging Leaders (BEL) Program is designed for promising students who come from diverse backgrounds, have strong academic records and demonstrate leadership skills. Program participation gives students a distinct competitive advantage when adjusting to college life, learning in classes, and applying for internship opportunities, ultimately preparing them for successful careers in business. BEL Program students who are admitted to UW?Madison and major in business are granted a full-tuition scholarship for four years of attendance. (Completion of the program does not guarantee admission into the university.) The BEL Program meets every summer for three years, beginning the summer after tenth grade.

The Director of Pre-College Programs will focus initially on the BEL program providing day to day leadership for the staff and general operations. We anticipate that this position will eventually expand the portfolio of pre-college programs the Wisconsin School of Business offers.

Additional Information:

This position may require some travel and work on evenings and weekends.
