Position Summary: The Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology and the Thurston Arthritis Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for an Open Rank (tenure/tenured track) physician-scientist faculty position. Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD. degree and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology. Applicants with a research focus in autoimmunity and/or inflammation relevant to rheumatic diseases are preferable. Successful applicants will possess an exceptional record of basic or translational research demonstrated by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program. Those at the Associate Professor and above rank should have extramural funding and a national reputation in their field. The successful candidate will have his/her primary appointment in the Department of Medicine. He/she will be expected to teach and/or perform clinical service within this department in a manner that is consistent with standard practices for a tenured or tenure-track faculty within the department. Applicants should be seeking a stimulating, interdisciplinary and collaborative environment in which to pursue research, teaching and clinical care.
