Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing preliminary testing of patients, assisting the Optometrist, maintaining medical records and inventory accurately within electronic records, notification and courtesy phone calls, assisting patients with contact lens needs processing insurance. The Optometric Technician ensures that our patients receive courteous and prompt service and that all patients needs are met before each patient leaves the clinic.
Responsibilities: Perform pre-testing on patients prior to examination by Optometrist: Proficient with using an auto refractor/keratometer and auto lensmeter. Able to run visual fields, retinal camera, and OCT. Comfortable with taking patient history and detailing patient charts with accuracy. Able to take visual acuities and any other tests the doctor requests. Communicate with the Optometrist, Optician, and Optician Assistant on a continual basis throughout the day. Work with Optician Assistant and Optician to create optimal patient flow.
