The Department of Civil Engineering and Construction in the College of the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Construction/Construction Engineering. This position is located on the Statesboro campus, but may require teaching on the other campuses.

Within this setting, the department offers four programs: bachelor degree programs in Civil Engineering (BSCE), Construction Engineering (BSConE), and Construction (BSCons); and a master's degree program in Civil Engineering (MSCE). The mission of the construction and construction engineering programs is to attract students and prepare them for professional employment in the construction industry. Graduates of the programs will be able to communicate effectively, possess sound work and ethical values, and exhibit the technical knowledge and reasoning skills necessary to work successfully as leaders in the construction professions.
The faculty of the department are dedicated to helping students develop to their highest potential through a personal commitment to the continuous pursuit of academic excellence, high standards in teaching, and an increase in professional knowledge. The ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the department, college, and University is expected, as is a strong orientation to recruit, advise, retain, mentor, and collaborate with qualified students.
Position Description. Reporting to the department chair, the primary responsibilities of this position include teaching, research, and service. The assistant professor is required to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses (lecture and laboratory), supervise undergraduate/graduate projects and master's theses, engage in student mentorship, assist in program assessment and execution of a continuous improvement plan, pursue scholarly work (including research in the field, grants, and publications), participate in service on variouscommittees, and participate in professional activities and organizations. The position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
• Earned doctorate in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering,
or a closely related area with a specialization (or extensive experience) in the field of
Construction Management, by August 1, 2019
• Ability to develop and teach lectures and laboratories in construction or construction
engineering at the undergraduate and graduate levels
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories in at least three of the
following areas: construction finance, construction safety, construction graphics, MEP, and
other construction related classes
• Ability to conduct research in the appropriate field
• Effective English communication (oral and written)
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without
assistance from the institution
• Relevant industrial experience
• Relevant professional licensing or certifications
• Previous teaching experience at the university/college level
• Experience using online teaching tools (e.g. web-based instruction)
• Record of scholarship and participation in professional activities
• Experience with construction (i.e., operations, production & logistics, project management)
• Experience with ACCE or ABET accreditation and/or continuous quality improvement
Screening of applications begins January 14, 2019, and continues until March 15, 2019. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2019.
