The Department of Interior Architecture & Design at Florida State University announces an open tenure-earning faculty position. This position is a nine-month tenure-earning Assistant rank teaching research, and service position. Appointment begins August 2019.

Responsibilities

In order to be considered for this position, a candidate must be able to teach undergraduate-level technology courses, design studio(s), and other areas of interest such as lighting and/or sustainability. Candidates must also be capable of advising graduate students through the thesis process and demonstrate activity in research and/or creative scholarship.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the following areas:
-Design studio
-CAD, BIM, Adobe Suite and related software
-Lighting and/or Sustainability
-Other areas of special interest to the candidate

Engage in research and/or creative scholarship and seek external funding. Render service to the university, state, community and the profession. Participate in innovative teaching and curriculum development. Mentor upper division undergraduate and graduate level students. Chair or be a member of thesis committees. Actively participate in academic and/or professional organizations. Participate in departmental service opportunities. Participate in College and/or University service as appropriate

Qualifications

MFA / M. Arch. / Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Interior Design or related field by August 15, 2019. MS / MA degrees with significant professional experience and demonstrated research may also be considered.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research and/or creative scholarship.
Demonstrated ability to use design-oriented technologies for teaching and/or scholarly work.
Demonstrated record of scholarly publications/conference presentations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
NCIDQ and/or NCARB certification, or the ability to achieve certification within 12 months of employment.
Teaching experience at the graduate level
Ability to teach software unique to the design profession.

Preferred

-Teaching experience at the graduate level.
-Five years or more of professional practice experience.
-Demonstrated competency and proficiency in hand, digital and hybrid forms of visual design
communication.
-Other qualifications such as LEED, WELL, or EDAC
