The Center for Teaching and Learning ( CTL ) at Marymount University invites applications for a Tutoring Coordinator. The Tutoring Coordinator researches/implements peer tutoring best practices, and provides an intentional, informed approach to peer tutoring in the CTL for Marymount undergraduate and graduate students; manages the day-to-day functions of the tutoring services, and trains/supervises peer tutors and graduate assistants; builds partnerships across the University (e.g., faculty, International Student Services, Center for Career Services, library, graduate programs, academic integrity) to support student academic success.

  • Master's Degree in any field
    *3 years relevant work experience in tutoring, mentoring, and/or teaching in a higher education setting.

  • Supervision of student workers
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in learning assistance (including tutoring/peer mentoring), online tutoring, secondary education, or developmental education
  • Experience training students
  • Experience using technology such as Starfish and TutorTrac; Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; Online video conferencing programs such as Skype, WebEx, Zoom; Willingness to embrace new technology; Familiarity with online tools and services such as SurveyMonkey, Doodle; familiarity with potential online tutoring platforms

Responsibility / Duty

Manages day-to-day logistics of the peer tutoring program: Hires, trains, and supervises a group of about 30 peer tutors, writing consultants (both undergraduate and graduate), and graduate assistants. Teaches tutor training courses (TL205/207). Develops and implements ongoing tutor professional development plan. Maintains a group Canvas site to house tutoring material. Respond to queries from tutees. Match students with appropriate resources.

Ensures that correct and up-to-date tutor data is entered into Starfish/TutorTrac. Compile and analyze data generated by tutoring activities to better understand institutional effectiveness and recommend program changes to enhance service quality and effectiveness.

Liaises with faculty and academic support staff to learn of student needs and to advertise tutoring services. Ensures CTL tutoring information on the Marymount website, portal, and e-concierge is up-to-date/accurate.
