The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Cardiology of the University Health Network (UHN)/Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified full-time Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist. The successful candidate will be a Clinician-Teacher and must be eligible for academic appointment at the minimum rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is as early as August 1, 2019, or as mutually agreed upon.
The appointee will report to the Division Director of Cardiology at UHN/MSH. Candidates must hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). He/she will have completed a full training program in ACHD (at least 18 months training at a tertiary care centre) in addition to his/her adult or pediatric cardiology training. He/she will have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and a strong research track record. The primary language of work will be in English. Compensation will depend on the amount of clinical work performed (estimated based on fee-for-service billing) but will be in the usual range for an experienced cardiologist in the province of Ontario at approximately $250,000 to 300,000 per year and be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional sources of income from Alternate Funding Plans (AFPs) and merit from the Department of Medicine may be available. Health benefit options and plans are supplied per company policy. In addition, the candidate may be reimbursed partial start-up costs with office expenses.
The ACHD Program at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) is recognized as a world leader in providing clinical care to ACHD patients and for providing training in this undersubscribed specialty. The primary goal is to maintain excellence in patient care, education, and research, in the face of the increasing number of patient volume.
