Director of Community and Inclusion
The Director of Community and Inclusion will work collaboratively across the Yale MBA leadership team and with key partners across the school, the university, and externally to increase the diversity of the student body, infuse the core values of diversity and inclusion into the student experience and promote access to business education. Collaborate in the development and implementation of a strategic plan to Increase outreach, recruitment, and matriculation, especially from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in business. Plan and execute recruiting and yield events and activities aimed at underrepresented populations. Support MBA and Masters Programs in delivering student services that are attentive to the needs and promote the academic success of students of color. Steward the school’s network of relationships and partnerships w/external organizations, agencies and community partners. Work collaboratively within the Programs and w/faculty advisory committees to integrate student development learning outcomes that result in increased awareness for and appreciation of diversity and deepening of diverse perspectives in the Yale School of Management curriculum and community. Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop a school-wide culture that exemplifies shared value for community and diversity and provides a supportive and stimulating learning environment. Stay current on and document policies, laws and legal matters that relate to diversity recruitment; educate admissions team. Work w/Programs, Admissions and Communications to develop and implement effective communication strategies. Participate in standard admissions activities and work cooperatively with Program department leaders to follow-up with prospective and newly admitted students from underrepresented groups. Develop and administer pre-MBA program to promote access to business education and assist the matriculation of students from non-traditional and underrepresented populations. Participate in standard Academic Affairs & Student Life activities such as Orientation and Commencement programming, affinity club events, community dialog sessions. Maintain contact with student’s post-graduation and identify corporate sponsorship opportunities, to develop and execute plans to maximize corporate support and build a network of recurring corporate involvement. Effectively manage the fiscal resources allocated to diversity initiatives.
Required: Bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience with progressive responsibility in educational administration or related corporate roles with direct experience in one or more of: admissions, recruitment, or diversity programming. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience with and/or serving diverse populations and exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills required. Ability to travel regularly and work evenings and weekends. Preferred: Advanced degree and global orientation; experience working across countries and regions, and fluency in more than one language.
