Associate Director, Direct Messaging

Job description

Reporting to the Executive Director of Annual Giving, the Associate Director of Direct Messaging serves as an integral member of the annual giving team in setting the annual communications strategy for the department. The Associate Director brings a multi-channel approach to create and implement customized, fully integrated fundraising plans that integrate traditional and cutting-edge direct marketing approaches. Working closely with stakeholders across the university, the Associate Director will be responsible for creating and curating content for a wide-variety of solicitations and stewardship materials - both in terms of vehicle and audience. The position will also work closely with advancement communications to manage annual giving's digital solicitation strategy. The Associate Director will serve as a liaison to departments in Institutional Advancement and across the university to ensure unit-based and university priorities are reflected in annual giving and stewardship messages. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities: *Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; must be both a skilled communicator and a persuader

*Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and relationship-building skills, with a strong commitment to helping others succeed

*High-level understanding of university advancement issues and environment

*Proven track record of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

*Experience in strategic planning, and developing and executing large-scale projects required

*Must be a creative thinker and problem-solver, with an orientation towards customer service

*Experience in program development, delivery, and management

*Established success in building consensus and influencing teams made up of peers and *individuals that do not have direct reporting relationships

*An understanding of, and a passion for, working within a performance management culture

*High level of comfort with consultative processes, agile in a team environment and in working with a wide range of people

*Excellent attention to detail

*Working knowledge of all applicable computer software and applicable professional principles
