Financial Aid Specialist

Job description

This position requires a bachelor's degree; or, an associate degree plus two (2) years relevant experience; or, a high school diploma plus four (4) years relevant experience. Ideal candidate must have excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of financial aid and VA educational benefit regulations, procedures and eligibility requirements; knowledge and skill in the use of computer software and integrated student system databases; the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to work effectively in diverse and fast-paced environment. Conversational Spanish is a plus. Student Services experience is preferred. Knowledge of and experience with federal guidelines and regulations for state and federal financial assistance are essential. Datatel/Colleague experience preferred. This position works closely with Lead Award Servicing Officer. Normal work hours are from 8am to 6pm Mon-Fri. Must able able to do occasional overnight travel for trainings. Successful candidate will provide excellent face-to-face front counter customer service, receive and review financial aid documents to determine completeness and to verify if additional materials are required; respond to inquiries about financial aid; research and resolves issues related to transactions handled by the department. Provide information and advice about available financial aid, eligibility requirements and the application process to students, parents and community-at-large. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Assist with on campus workshops and presentations when scheduled. Salary is commensurate with education and experience based on SC pay band 4 with a salary range of $26,988 - $49,932. This position open until filled. (AD80/0002/148223, opened 4/29/18)
