Film and Media Arts Lab Technician (Laboratory Specialist II)

Job description

This position requires an associate's degree and three (3) years of work journey-level technical work experience in a related laboratory setting; or a high school diploma and five (5) years of work journey-level technical work experience in a related laboratory setting. Minimum three (3) years experience in the operation of film, video, sound and lighting equipment preferred. Candidate must be able to electronically inventory equipment; track purchase requisitions including all budget/shipping/receiving documents; learn new skills and work well with people; and function in an environment characterized by continual changes, policies and laws in the field of education. Must posses the ability to lift moderately heavy (50 pounds) items and climb ladders. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential. The position will serve as the lead technician for all troubleshooting and repair of specialized film, video, sound and lighting equipment for division programs. Will coordinate the check-out/check-in of film, video, sound, lighting, and computer equipment. This includes equipment testing before and after the check-in/check-out process and providing just-in-time training for students on equipment operation. A valid SC Driver's License is required. Salary is commensurate with education and experience based on a SC pay band 4 with a salary range of $26,988 - $49,932.
