Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia's Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics (MPBP) in the School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a tenure-ineligible Assistant Professor of Research faculty position in the lab of Dr. Anne Kenworthy. The candidate will lead an independent research effort directed toward goals established by the principal investigator, with the overall aim of identifying novel cellular machinery in clathrin-independent endocytosis.

Candidates must have an MD and/or PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, or a related field and have expertise in the structure and function of caveolae. Experience designing, carrying out, and analyzing experiments using a variety of approaches including quantitative fluorescence microscopy, live cell imaging, trafficking assays, and cell biology techniques is preferred. Candidates should also be highly motivated and have a good publication record.

In addition to carrying out this research, the applicant will be expected to supervise undergraduates, graduate students, and technicians as appropriate, present data at scientific meetings, and prepare manuscripts and grant applications with the PI. The successful candidate will be strongly encouraged to establish independent funding covering a minimum of 50% of their salary within two-three years.
