The University of Virginia department of Information Technology Services seeks a Local Support Professional (LSP) to join our team. This position provides LSP support for Information Technology Services customers and constituents. The LSP analyzes, defines, tests, troubleshoots, and implements hardware and software technologies for UVa's ITS organization as well as other assigned organizations within UVa and affiliates. The LSP supports desktop, network, server, and shared IT infrastructure resources. LSP serves as 1st through 3rd level support. The incumbent also manages computer hardware, software, licensing and associated accessories.
A High School diploma and a minimum of 3 years professional experience in information technology, which could include degree coursework or computer classes is required. Experience with MS AD, GPO and expert level ability in the installation and support of Acrobat Pro, Adobe Flash, Jave Runtime Environments, MS IE 11, MS Office suites 2016/O365, Oracle client 18, Firefox ESR, Safari, Chrome, OSX 10.7/10.8 is required. Strong understanding of security principles, concepts and best operating procedures are also required. Applicant must have thorough knowledge and understanding of HD encryption (TrueCrypt & MS Bitlocker), Antivirus suites (Symantec Endpoint & MS System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection). Expert level knowledge and support of Windows and Apple OS's (XP, Win7, Win8, OSX 10.12-10.14) are also essential.
Preference will be given to candidates that possess Bachelor's degree, knowledge of SCCM, MDT and enterprise class desktop management tools. Experience in supporting high level Executive/Senior Management a plus and 3-5 years "level 3" helpdesk role is also preferred. The following duties are also preferred:
- Experience developing, deploying and supporting VM desktops and infrastructure (Virtual PC, VMware, VMware Fusion, Hyper-V, MS Terminal Services) along with virtualization of applications (VMWare ThinApp, Cameyo). Use and management of IDFinder clients.
- Experience with MDT, SCCM and other tools sets for the rapid installation of OS, hardware imaging, deployment, software installation and patching of Windows 7 & 10 machines.
