The Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) is a high volume diagnostic laboratory that provides a broad range of veterinary diagnostic testing services to approximately 2,500 clients. Laboratories are located in Madison and in Barron, Wisconsin.
This is a Facilities Repair Worker-Advanced position primarily at the Madison lab, with occasional travel to the Barron lab required. This position requires a broad range of knowledge and extensive technical skills. This position is responsible for a broad range of building and lab equipment maintenance and repair, with coordination of outside service activities. This position requires a working knowledge of general maintenance, HVAC, woodworking, masonry, small appliance repair, plumbing, electrical and custodial. This position will coordinate the operations of the custodial services for the WVDL. Additionally, this position will be reponsible to be the WVDL Key Master.
A major portion of the duties in this position require direct interaction with faculty, staff and students which demands a high level of customer service skills. This position also provides general support for facility functions such as room arrangements for special events/meetings and office/laboratory moves for faculty and staff. This position must be able to lift and move heavy objects including equipment, parcels, and furniture. This position is required to drive a university fleet vehicle or leased school vehicles on an occasional basis. This position requires updating the WVDL electronic quality system database with preventative maintenance and other related data entry on a regular basis. The person hired into this position will be expected to attend semi-annual campus facility meetings as a representative of the WVDL.
This position reports to the WVDL Business Manager.
Regular work hours will be M-F 7:45 - 4:30.
