Advertised Job Summary: The Student and Community Outreach Director provides leadership and oversight of strategic University programs and initiatives. This includes the management of programming and education for off-campus students as well as researching and developing programs that aid in the retention of students. This position provides students with resources and opportunities to engage and enhance their experience at the University of South Carolina. The director serves as the liaison between the University and the greater Columbia community fostering relationships with campus and community partners. Primary responsibilities include: *Supervise the off-campus living and neighborhood relations staff and support the continued development of the community ambassador peer leader program. *Establish and maintain relationships with community partner's including neighborhood associations, apartment communities, property management companies, city leaders, and community members. *Research, develop, and execute efforts to ensure engagement and retention efforts specifically targeting the support of male students. *Direct assessment and evaluation of student needs and identify opportunities to enhance relations with the broader community. *Oversee budget creation, determine priorities and budget management for associated areas.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Master's degree in Student Services or related field and 7 years experience in student services program area. In addition, this position requires a variable work schedule. Evening and weekend hours will be required. This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement / hazardous weather and other emergencies. This position will also support the University's mission and goals through participating in recruitment and retention activities, as appropriate, for prospective and current students.
