Job Description Summary:

This Human Resources Manager position reports to the HR Director along with a matrix organizational alignment to the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is responsible for leading the university's alumni and fundraising efforts. DAR seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients and other friends. DAR's goal is to advance GW's mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.

The HR Manager is responsible for partnering with DAR on all human capital needs including recruitment, diversity, EEO, performance management, HR policies, employee relations, progressive discipline, training, strategic management, and organizational development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Develop comprehensive recruitment strategy and action plan in collaboration with hiring officials.
• Assist with a talent pipeline strategy that ensures a constant flow of qualified candidates.
• Assist managers in the development of departmental policies and ensuring compliance with University policies.
• Advise employees and managers on new and ongoing HR programs and initiatives and serve as a single point of contact for managers to access services provided by other HR functions.
• May serve as the HR representative with external agencies (EEOC, Unemployment, Department of Labor, etc.) regarding employee relations activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Preferred candidates will have experience and a thorough understanding of the human capital, operational, and organizational structure and dynamics required for a successful development, fundraising or sales work environment.

Additionally, preferred candidates will have experience and knowledge in all of the HR functional areas in higher education.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 4 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree in a relevant area of study plus 2 years of relevant experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Thorough knowledge of Human Resources policies, procedures and practices, company benefit programs, personnel administration systems, salary administration, recruitment techniques, EEO and Affirmative Action Planning, and relocation procedures.

A degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or an equivalent preferred.

Knowledge of federal and state laws as they relate to HR issues, plus exploration and production business acumen is preferred in this position. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Demonstrate ability to multitask in a fast paced environment in an organized and efficient manner.

Exhibit proactive, service-oriented manner and ability to deal effectively with a diverse and demanding client base.

Preferred candidates will have experience and knowledge in all of the HR functional areas, particularly in higher education.

PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred

Experience in fundraising and/or development and alumni relations is preferred.

Typical Hiring Range $54,900 - $75,500 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
