Department Academic Administration Asst

Job description

The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Department Manager whose main focus will be to help support academic and program general administrative needs in the Appalachian Center. This individual will work closely with the department leadership to support the daily operations of the department; provide staff support to the department leadership; serve as an advocate for department faculty; and contribute actively to a team of other department manager colleagues and college staff. Responsibilities include providing support for the department academic administrator(s), department chair and department leadership, including but not limited to benchmarking, environmental scanning, special projects, and strategic planning staff support; supporting the department administrator(s) to assist various college teams (Business Center, Hive, Space and Facilities, Enrollment Management, etc.); seeing projects through from conception to completion; and interpreting and enforcing university policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and consistency with best practices.

Physical Requirements

Sitting/standing for long periods of time at work station; walking to and from offices; and lifting and/or walking with light weight objects.


Monday-Friday; 6 hours per day; and occasional evenings and weekends.
