Position Summary: Responsible for online mathematics instruction and for providing oversight of ACCESS mathematics classrooms delivered online. Responsible for mathematics planning and implementing a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities which serve the mathematics needs and capabilities of the high school students from across the state of Alabama. This position is a non-tenure earning 2 year appointment with the possibility of renewal. Continuation to the end of the two year contract is based on annual evaluation, departmental need and available funding.
Minimum Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in education or other relevant field with three years of experience as an ACCESS teacher. Must hold a current Alabama Teaching Certificate. Excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups for successful program/project development, and familiarity with educational programs delivered by technology. Satisfactory completion of comprehensive background/fingerprinting check. Experience with online teaching in accordance with UA/ALSDE policies. Experience in K-12 Education or higher education, and technology. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. Must pass a background and finger print check. Excellent mathematics teaching skills, written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, experience with budgeting, financial management, and supervision of personnel. Ability to collaborate effectively with CCS, UA institutional and academic units, and Alabama State Department of Education. Ability to plan, develop, and implement team projects.. Demonstrated ability to provide effective supervision and management of personnel and programming. Collaborate with instructional designers, content specialists, and program managers to determine best practices for teaching mathematics in an online format. Knowledge of University's policies and procedures. Knowledge of ALSDE Course of Study. Knowledge of WebAIM, Quality Matters, Desire2Learn Learning Management System. Experience teaching Advanced Placement courses. Demonstrated ability of adhering to grant requirements.
