DESCRIPTION: Humboldt State University's School of Business invites applications for an academic year tenure-track faculty position in Finance. The mission of the School of Business is to provide entrepreneurial, hands-on, applied learning experience through close student interaction with faculty and the community, with a commitment to sustainable social, environmental and economic development. The School of Business is currently undergoing significant growth with a focus on developing the next generation of leaders in sustainable and socially responsible business.

RANK, SALARY AND BENEFITS: We seek to fill this position at the Assistant Professor rank; however, rank and salary are dependent on the appointee's qualifications and experience. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. or equivalent in Finance or closely related field from an accredited college or university is preferred at time of appointment. Candidates with considerable progress toward completion of terminal degree who expect to graduate by appointment date (August 2019) will be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:
Evidence of excellence in teaching as demonstrated by student evaluations;
Preference will be given to candidates who are interested in teaching Principles of Finance, Financial Management, and Capital Budgeting. Other available courses include International Business Finance, Investment Management, and Intermediate Business Statistics.
Commitment and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds;
Potential for or record of research, scholarly and/or creative activity involving students whenever possible;
Practical experience working in the industry in related skills/areas;
Possession of professional certifications
Ability and/or interest in teaching courses that emphasize principles of sustainable business;
International experience in teaching, research or business;
Willingness to participate in the development of online learning experiences.

Professional Duties: Candidates should be committed to teaching excellence and to building a strong research record. Instructional assignments may include courses such as Principles of Finance, Capital Budgeting, International Business Finance, Investment Management, Intermediate Business Statistics, and Problems in Financial Management. Instructional assignments will be consistent with the programmatic needs of the department and students.

The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching; research, scholarship and creative activity; and service to the University, profession and to the community. These responsibilities include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions. Probationary faculty are typically provided ongoing mentorship to be a successful member of the faculty. During the first two years of the probationary period, teaching responsibilities will be reduced by approximately one course each semester. The reduced teaching load supports the establishment of research, scholarship and/or creative activities required for retention, tenure and promotion.
