Job Description Summary:
The Early Childhood Education Instructor/Program Director oversees the early childhood education-related programs for Southwestern Michigan College. This position will oversee curriculum development, train adjunct faculty, represent the college in advisory board functions, advise Early Childhood Education students, supervise the Early Childhood Assistant Program Manager, and teach.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Education or a related field
• Three - five years of experience working in an early childhood setting (ages 0 - 5)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in early childhood administration/supervision
• Experience teaching at a college level, ideally in a community college environment.
• Experience coordinating curriculum to meet the changing demands of secondary education.

Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
• Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
The physical requirements of this position.
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision.
The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.
None. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Southwestern Michigan College is a two-year college located approximately 45 minutes north of South Bend, Indiana and approximately 45 minutes from Lake Michigan’s eastern shore.
