The Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation (DTEI) is seeking to fill a 50% Associate Dean position to begin during Fall Quarter 2019. To be eligible, the individual must be an active (i.e. not emeritus) member of the UCI Academic Senate and have already received tenure/security of employment.

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning, the DTEI Associate Dean provides strategic leadership for faculty development, effective teaching and learning, and innovations in instructional technologies efforts at UCI. This includes fostering a campus culture of commitment to excellence in teaching, grounded in scholarship and theories of effective practice, and create educational environments to support the learning of a highly diverse student population. The Associate Dean is required to collaborate with colleagues campus-wide and lead UCI efforts to achieve strategic priorities for improving pedagogical strategies, and scholarship on effective teaching and learning. This position requires one to be a strategic leader to communicate priorities and build engagement with staff and faculty across the university regarding teaching and learning initiatives. In addition, this Associate Dean provides administrative oversight and supervision of the DTEI Leadership Team, comprised of 5 staff Directors and is responsible to effectively steward the Division's resources, initiatives, staff, and activities, including budgets. The Associate Dean will serve as the initial reporting contact to handle any issues that arise within the Division, and will also serve as an advocate for the activities throughout the Division to the Vice Provost.
