The Global Studies Program at Colby College invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor (five course sabbatical replacement). We seek a scholar with a PhD in anthropology (ABD considered) and a record of innovative research and teaching in the human rights and social justice arena, broadly defined. Scholarly expertise might include environmental justice, social movements, indigenous rights, media activism, global health, and migration, among others.  Candidates with research and teaching centered in the Global South or indigenous communities are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have strong interdisciplinary interests and will be able to teach courses that complement the existing Global Studies and Anthropology curricula, including one section of introduction to cultural anthropology and at least one writing intensive course (to be an upper level class in scholar’s area of specialization).  The search committee is especially interested in candidates who will contribute to the diversity of the campus community through their research, teaching, and/or service.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, a statement of research interests, list of three recommenders, writing samples, and teaching evaluations (if available) to http://apply.interfolio.com/56590.  Review of applications will commence on January 25, 2019 and continue until a successful candidate is selected.
