The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Specialist Intermediate. The incumbent is responsible for managing major activities of the department's collaborative cancer epidemiology and prevention and population research projects throughout the grant cycle: project planning, large genomic and epidemiological data management and statistical analysis, preparation of scientific reports and manuscripts, cross-center collaboration, and other support to ensure project deadlines and goals are met effectively and efficiently. The position will train and supervise graduate or undergraduate students or entry-level technicians in the research laboratory in large genomic, epidemiological, and healthcare data analysis. The incumbent will also assist the Principle Investigator and senior research staff in scientific experiments and research, and accurately following existing protocols under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior research staff to perform necessary studies.
A Master's degree in a bioinformatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, or similar discipline and strong statistical analytical skills are required. At least three years of research experience is required, along with significant training in epidemiology, biostatistics, informatics or related discipline. A terminal degree may substitute for experience.
This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
