Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Department of Biological Sciences is dedicated to basic research and teaching in a broad range of aspects of the biological sciences. The Department has strong undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral programs and substantial extramural support to develop and maintain integrative research programs. In addition the Department enhances its mission to interdisciplinary research and training programs with other units in the life sciences across colleges.
Essential Job Duties: This position will provide laboratory assistance by performing comparative anatomy/functional morphology research activities as directed by the Principal Investigator, in addition to helping supervise and assist lab students in comparative anatomy/functional morphology research projects, organizing laboratory equipment and placing orders. This position would be responsible for coordinating all of the preparatory work (equipment and supplies, cleaning, and restocking of laboratory supplies) throughout the week associated with teaching needs of PI. Other responsibilities involve working in the laboratory on comparative anatomy/functional morphology research projects as directed by the PI. **This position is Time-Limited.**
Department Required Skills: Ability to work within organized framework, follow directions and maintain established order and keep good records of experiments.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Undergraduate degree in biology, anthropology or other field related to comparative anatomy/functional morphology. At least two years of experience conducting research in a comparative anatomy/functional morphology. Proven experience helping to manage a comparative anatomy/functional morphology research lab.
