Manager, Annual Giving Marketing
Job Description Summary:
I. JOB OVERVIEW
The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is seeking a Manager, Annual Giving Marketing for the George Washington University. DAR is responsible for directing and managing the university's alumni and fundraising efforts and seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients and other friends. Our goal is to advance GWs mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.
The Manager, Annual Giving Marketing reports to the Executive Director, Annual Giving and is responsible for developing and executing the annual giving marketing plan in service of GW's annual giving fundraising priorities and manages the DAR Annual Giving Call Center/Phone-a-thon.
This critical work includes omni-channel marketing activities to acquire, re-activate, retain, and upgrade annual donors with an emphasis on growing GW's alumni participation, donor retention rate, and dollars raised.
This is position has direct management duties and is responsible for the life cycle actions of all the student employees in the call center as well as one full-time annual giving position
This is a leadership role that will be active and collaborative across central and school-based teams in DAR to deploy resources to maximize resources and grow GW's base of annual donors.
Develops and maintains GW's direct marketing plan and deploys staff and operating budget resources to execute a best-in-class annual giving program.
Working with annual giving and DAR leadership, sets aggressive but attainable goals for growing GW's annual donor base through omni-channel marketing campaigns.
Liaises closely with school and unit colleagues to drive annual giving strategy, messaging, and collaboration across DAR and the wider university.
Partners with colleagues in Marketing Communications to execute a high volume of activities across direct marketing and digital channels efficiently and with measurable outcomes.
Manages a direct marketing budget to maximize efficiencies and ensure that projects are on-time and on-budget.
Develops content and cultivates buy-in for key annual giving messages broadly, and for targeted segments such as professional degree graduate alumni, parents, affinity groups, and others.
Liaises closely with Technical Services and Constituent Records staff to extract data; prepares data for highly segmented marketing campaigns.

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing complex marketing activities in order to meet and surpass fundraising and alumni goals and expectations.
Proven ability to effectively manage metrics-driven projects is desired. Must have outstanding written and oral communication skills; demonstrate high initiative and flexibility, and ability to work with different types of people and functional areas.
Proven ability to interpret data and communicate results and set targets is desired.
