Position Summary: The Assistant Director, China Initiatives with a focus on Recruitment and Admissions, leads the overall recruitment and admissions initiatives for the School's PharmD and PhD (Pharmaceutical Sciences) programs in China. As such, the position's principal functions include overseeing/leading the recruitment efforts of the PharmD and PhD programs, development of relationships with the leading academic institutions in China to identify talented students who wish to pursue a PharmD or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, overseeing/leading a seamless PharmD and PhD admissions program, maintaining and managing recruitment and admissions data that is easily retrievable and accurate, using the recruitment and admissions data to improve quality of candidates in subsequent years, partnering with the Chinese Scholarship council in overseeing the admission and scholarship awards, and serving as the School's primary admissions contact by advising prospective students and liaising with other University departments as needed. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of China Initiatives. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication, team building, and problem-solving skills in addition to having an understanding of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences education. Familiarity with different cultures and languages (e.g. mandarin) is preferred. The individual will travel to China with team members to coordinate the recruitment of talented students.
Education Requirements: A post-Baccalaureate degree in higher education, public administration or a related field is required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and at least three years of related professional experience in higher education.
