Scope of Job:
Responsible for planning, coordinating, conducting, and promoting student programs and activities in the area of recruitment and/or orientation involving current and prospective students, high school counselors, parents, and others involved in the educational endeavor.

Description of Duties:
• Plans, organizes, conducts, and promotes recruitment, orientation, or other student programs.

• Coordinates all aspects of the assigned student focused program.

• Promotes student support services, financial aid programs, counseling services, tutoring services, and other University services to students, parents, high school counselors, and others.

• Schedules conferences and training seminars.

• Makes referrals to appropriate University offices.

• Maintains accurate records and submit required reports.

• Serves on committees as assigned.

• Assists in development of program goals and objectives.

• Trains other office personnel.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:
General direction from the assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of all assigned staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Preferred Education:
N/A

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
Two (2) years of experience working in Higher Education or performing duties closely related to the job duties listed above.

Applicant must be a current UTRGV Employee to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in career advising, student recruitment/retention, or outreach in a university setting.

Applicant currently holds a comparable position at UTRGV.

Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required.

Other:
Exceptional planning and organizational skills. Must have excellent organizational and public speaking skills for workshops, seminars, and presentations. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to interpret and communicate policy and procedural issues to students and families.
