This position reports to the Manager of Technical Services. The Classroom Technologist provides audio/visual and computer technical support for classrooms. The candidate will be responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and finding solutions for classrooms, theaters, and other technology-enabled spaces around campus while documenting and tracking these actions. This position will provide primary support for digital signage, as well as maintaining display TVs around campus. This position will also provide secondary support for campus events happening during evenings and weekends.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Qualified applicants must possess a strong functional knowledge of applicable audio/visual technologies and be able to exhibit good interpersonal communication skills, including written and verbal communications. Knowledge of audio/visual technology support and of applicable desktop computing technologies, including desktop operating systems are required. Excellent customer service skills are required.
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional sitting, walking, stooping, crouching and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 60 pounds and requires hand/eye coordination in the efficient operation and setup of computers and related equipment. Working conditions are mostly indoor. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
High School Diploma is required.
A minimum of 1 year experience as a technician in an internal or external desktop computing support environment is required. A minimum of 3 years' experience in customer service is required.
Associates Degree, or higher, with focus in technology or related industry certifications is preferred.
Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
