Faculty Fellow in early North American History
The Department of History at Colby College in Waterville, Maine invites applications for a one-year Faculty Fellow in early North American History, beginning September 1, 2019. We are searching for an historian of early America, preferably with a focus on Native peoples; an ability to teach the history of New England in a global context would be a plus, but is not required. The successful candidate will help engage students in finding new corners of history and in broadening the curriculum, and who will bring to the classroom experiences, identities, and ideas that resonate with a diverse student body. Candidates should demonstrate potential to be innovative, effective, and inclusive teachers. We shall give particular weight to candidates who have successfully designed and taught their own courses. PhD preferred, although ABD will be considered. The teaching load is four courses for the year, one of which will be the first part of the US history survey, from the pre-colonial through the antebellum period.
