Visiting Assistant Professor Position in French Studies
The Department of French and Italian Studies is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Francophone Studies for a one-year position, to begin September 1, 2019. PhD expected. The successful candidate will be part of an energetic department committed to providing the best education to talented undergraduates. We are particularly interested in individuals with extensive experience, demonstrated effectiveness with a diverse student body and a record of excellence in language instruction as well as teaching/research expertise in Francophone African literature and cultures. The most desirable candidate will also have secondary expertise in the visual arts, theater, music and/or transdisciplinary cultural studies to complement existing areas of specialization in the department and other programs in the humanities. This is a non-tenured and non-tenurable full-time position, with a teaching load of five courses per year, at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Candidates must have a native or near-native fluency in French and English and a strong commitment to teaching all levels of French language.
