Assistant Professor of History
The Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences is seeking a visiting Assistant Professor of History with college teaching experience, and a commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts college.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but not limited to: (1) teach introductory courses in History, plus upper-level courses in African American History (2) advising students (3) engaging in research, publishing, distance education, grant-seeking, and other related professional/scholarly/creative activities, involving students whenever possible, and (4) contributing to the department, college and university through committee involvement, curriculum/course development, student assessment, and community service.
Applicant must have a Ph.D. degree in History from an accredited institution of higher education at the time of appointment. Potential for, or record of, research, scholarly and/or creative activity. Demonstrated potential for effective teaching using a variety of methodologies. Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
Experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience. Primary research and teaching interests or established record of research publications, teaching, student involvement and grant experience.
